I am a photographic story teller since about 1997.
For me, Photography is the interpreter or the agency that enables me to connect with the strangers on the streets and tell their stories of moments of life through static images in color. I was born in Guwahati city in the state of Assam in the north eastern part of India in a typical Indian middle class family in 1981.
In early part of my career in photography, digital photography was not known much at least in my part of the world and my the then habit of counting every frame of 36 exposures of the film role still continues. I still plan more, wait more and shoot less every time I walk the streets of Guwahati city. Perhaps a bit of old school still living in me.
In Photography I love saturated punchy colors, rustic charm, endless array of textures, finding characters recording decisive moments in both the natural world as well as people on the street that are unique to most places India. Apart from my native places, my gallery also features moments, people and places of other parts of the country that I have traveled.
